Sorry to hear about your misfortune! One tip regarding backups is to always maintain some kind of OFF SITE backup. The last thing you want to have happen is a fire or theft to take away your primary & your backup!

This could be DVDs that you take to your office, friend's home, etc. You could also do what I do: I have two external (USB) hard drives that I alternate from home to the office once a week. Sync software on my main PC keeps the main drive, the local backup drive, and the two "floating" off-site drives up to date. The key is to make it easy and automatic!

Thanks for a timely reminder! I recently upgraded my iMac to Tiger and LOVE the Spotlight feature. I was surprised, though, to discover multiple large files of the same image hogging space on my hard drive.

I back up to an external hard drive that I bought for less than $70. It was the best investment I've made, next to this Mac.
